Subject: Urge Congress to Stop Army From Poisoning Monkeys!
| | Dear Anne,
Your help is urgently needed! In a cruel chemical attack preparation exercise at Maryland's Aberdeen Proving Ground, the U.S. Army injects vervet monkeys with a drug overdose to crudely recreate the effects of a nerve agent attack. The monkeys—each of whom is subjected to this torture as frequently as every 60 days for three years—suffer from violent seizures and vomiting, and some even stop breathing. PETA is launching an all-out effort to stop this cruelty, which also violates Army animal welfare policies. We've filed complaints with the Army and staged protests, and now Emmy Award winner Woody Harrelson has joined the campaign by writing a letter to the Army urging it to replace this crude exercise with superior simulators and other effective non-animal methods that are already in use at other U.S. military installations and around the world. Please join us by contacting your members of Congress and asking him or her to take action to modernize the military's training methods. Thank you for all that you are doing to help animals!
Sincerely,
