| Take The Vegan Pledge For World Go Vegan Week - October 24 - 31 Millions of farmed animals live in fear, pain, and misery to produce meat, dairy and eggs. Then they're killed. Are you ready to extend your compassion into your kitchen, to reduce suffering and save lives? Sign our Vegan Pledge and tell us you'll go vegan for one week. Give it a try, and get the animal products out of your body and off your plate. There are so many compelling reasons to try a vegan diet: For the Animals - Millions of animals are tightly confined, treated horribly, live miserable lives, and brutally slaughtered in the meat, dairy and egg industries. For the Earth - According to World Bank environmental advisors, animal agriculture causes 51% of human-caused greenhouse gas emissions, excessive fossil fuel consumption, water waste and pollution, deforestation and wasted resources. For your Health - Eating a plant-based diet reduces your risk of chronic degenerative diseases, diabetes, obesity and other ailments. IDA has some great recipes to try. And celebrate World Go Vegan Week with us! You can host a vegan potluck, show a powerful film about farmed animals, or set up a display at your local library. We will provide you with materials to make your event a success. With more than 200 million barrels of oil in the Gulf that has spread along the coastline and into the water column, the devastation to this precious marine ecosystem is yet to be fully realized. What we do know is that BP is wrong when they claim most of the oil is gone. IDA's survey of the Gulf region by air, land, and water pointed to grim conclusions. For almost 15 years, the USDA has repeatedly cited Liebel for the same violations of the Animal Welfare Act (AWA), including failure to provide adequate veterinary care (Nosey has suffered from a chronic skin condition for at least 13 years), safe handling violations that put both Nosey and the public at risk, and unsafe and inadequate conditions in her barn, enclosure and trailer. Click here to read more, see videos, and send a fax to the USDA calling for Nosey's release to a sanctuary. Rescue Chocolate is donating 100% of its profits for September to In Defense of Animals (IDA). The tail-wagging vegan, kosher and dark chocolate products raise awareness about companion animal overpopulation while raising money for animals. Each flavor shines a light on an animal issue. The Peanut Butter Pit Bull, crispy peanut butter and luscious dark chocolate, is dedicated to rehabilitating the image of this misunderstood breed. The Wild at Heart dark chocolate hearts raise awareness of the animals in circuses, zoos, and laboratories. And the rich 66% dark chocolate bar, The Fix, encourages spay and neuter. Other flavors include Bow Wow Bon Bons, Pick Me! Pepper, and Foster-iffic Peppermint. Based in Brooklyn, New York, Rescue Chocolate is made with the finest ingredients and no artificial preservatives.
