Please Help Fund a New Animal-Rescue Van!
Dear Anne,

Donate Now!After years of helping animals in need, a van used by PETA's Community Animal Project (CAP) is nearing the end of the road.

PETA's CAP vans are an integral part of a lifesaving program that improves the lives of more than 10,000 animals each year in some of the worst pockets of poverty in southeastern Virginia and northern North Carolina. But after having to navigate flooded streets to rescue animals from Hurricane Irene's rising waters, this long-running vehicle, which has been so critical to CAP's work, is failing.

Will you please be an angel right now
by helping us replace this rapidly deteriorating van with a new vehicle to keep our CAP caseworkers and volunteers on the road and rescuing animals nonstop?

Whether helping to deliver a doghouse to a dog who has spent years chained to a metal barrel without protection from the elements, transporting a cat to a spay or neuter appointment, or rescuing animals in a dire emergency such as a tornado, hurricane, flood, or road accident, these vans are lifesavers for animals who otherwise would have no hope.

With your gift of $100 or more, we'll add your name to the vehicle, along with the names of others who stepped forward to make this vital purchase possible.

Thank you for your commitment to animals, especially when they need you the most.

Kind regards,

Ingrid Newkirk

Help Save Sharks with Defenders' All-New Wildlife Adoption

Dear Anne,

For the last 400 million years, sharks have roamed the world's oceans. They're one of the most powerful creatures in the sea -- but even sharks are struggling to survive brutal shark finning and other harmful fishing practices.

You can help save sharks and other wildlife by adopting Defenders' all-new shark.

International experts estimate that 30 percent of open ocean sharks are now threatened with extinction -- due in large part to the unsustainable shark finning industry.

With the help of our supporters, Defenders of Wildlife played an instrumental role in the passage of a landmark California law that bans trade in shark fins -- Oregon soon followed with a similar state law. Laws like these could help save millions of sharks each year from harmful finning.

Help celebrate this shark victory by adopting a shark today -- and use promo code SHARK to save 10%.

A shark adoption not only makes a great gift for you or someone you love, you'll also be helping real sharks in the wild by...
  • Supporting our work with federal officials to ensure sharks are protected from shark finning and bycatch in America's coastal waters.
  • Continuing our international efforts through the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) to protect the most threatened and endangered sharks.
  • Helping Defenders create and enforce more strict conservation measures through the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tuna (ICCAT) and the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC) to prevent harmful bycatch of sharks.
To celebrate our newest member of the Wildlife Adoption Center, use promo code SHARK to take 10% off your shark adoption -- or any wildlife adoption you choose.

Shark adoptions start at just $15 and are a wonderful way to learn more about these amazing animals -- and ensure their lasting future. Adopt a shark today -- or adopt any other animal available in our Wildlife Adoption Center.

You can also adopt by phone by calling 1-800-385-9712. Don't forget to save 10% by using promo code SHARK.

Take Action to Protect the World's Oceans

Dear Anne,

The Ocean Needs You

Donate $35 by January 31 and get a reusable water bottle. Donate $100 or more – or make a monthly gift of $10 –  and also get our printed quarterly magazine.

Click to donate Become a Member Today »

Thousands of endangered sea turtles are dragged and drowned in fishing nets. Fish species are poised for extinction due to rampant overfishing. Dead dolphins washed ashore after the United States' worst oil spill, while the drilling goes on.

Ocean creatures face needless deaths at the hands of humans every single day. The combined pressures of climate change, pollution and irresponsible fishing are taxing our oceans more than they can take.

But you can help reverse the tide of ocean destruction by joining and supporting Oceana today.

Make your membership gift of $35 or more by January 31 and help save the oceans – we'll even send you a free reusable water bottle!

Since our founding in 2001, donors like you have helped us accomplish so much, from passing regulations against destructive trawling in countries all across the globe to enacting the Shark Conservation Act in the US just last year. With your support, we'll continue to:

  • Protect fragile environments all over the world, from Belize's coral reefs to Alaska's Arctic habitats
  • Conduct necessary research on the state of the oceans to identify the habitats and species most in need of protection
  • Promote the adoption of offshore wind technology while fighting against dirty energy policies that pollute the oceans and threaten oil spills

Our programs in the field are making a real difference in the health of our oceans – but we can't do it without you. Join Oceana with a gift of $35 or more by January 31 and get a free reusable water bottle.

Over the past 10 years, we've seen a lot of success in protecting our oceans – but we've also seen some of the world's most beloved sea creatures slip closer and closer to the edge of extinction. Please help us make sure that these incredible animals continue to thrive for the next 10 years, and beyond.

Become a 2012 Oceana member before January 31- the oceans need you!
