 Nada beneficiará tanto
 a    saúde    humana   e
aumentará  as chances
de sobrevivência da vida
na terra quanto a evolução
para uma dieta vegetariana.
A ordem de vida vegetariana,
por seus efeitos físicos,
influenciará o temperamento
dos homens de uma tal maneira
que melhorará em muito o
destino da humanidade.

SOS cadela doente

english mobile

Boa tarde!

abrigá-la.

Alamogordo chimpanzeeIDA Applauds Historic McClatchy Newspapers Chimpanzee Series

IDA applauds the three-part "Special Report" on
chimpanzee experimentation by McClatchy Newspapers investigative reporter Chris Adams, which has been featured in newspapers nationwide. The series is almost certainly the most in-depth reporting about chimpanzee experimentation ever published, and is based on thousands of pages of chimpanzee medical records obtained by IDA in a groundbreaking Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the National Institutes of Health (NIH). It has exposed the profound mental and physical anguish that chimpanzees endure in labs. Click here to read more and see what you can do to help end experiments on chimpanzees.

Water For Elephants DemoWater For Elephants Educational Outreach A Huge Success

On April 22, IDA activists in at least 45 cities in 21 states distributed thousands of colorful postcards and sent a clear message to Water for Elephants moviegoers: the circus cruelty depicted in this Depression-era film is not a thing of the past.

Public response to our message was so favorable that many IDA members decided to return to the theaters to leaflet more shows and educate even more people about the unnatural, deprived lives of animals in the circus. After learning that these animals are torn from their mothers and subjected to violent training, chained, caged, and brutalized into performing tricks, many who saw the film wanted to get more involved in ending the use of animals in circuses.

Thanks to all the dedicated people who braved nasty weather – including tornado warnings – to inform the public that life has not improved for animals in today’s circuses, and to avoid circuses that use wild animals. You truly made a difference. There are more events planned as the movie opens around the world. With your help, we will put an end to circus cruelty forever!

chimp Ron at CoulstonThanks For Taking Part In World Week For Animals In Labs!

Thank you to everyone who spoke out for animals in labs last week – whether in a letter to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or a newspaper, or a demonstration. If you haven't already, please click these links to send a letter to the NIH, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and Congress.

We had a great turnout this year, with dozens of events in Europe, Canada, and over 20 U.S. cities covered by radio, TV, and print media. Photos and descriptions of these events will be posted on our website as we receive them. Please send us any photos, videos, or stories and we will commemorate your event on our site, inspiring others to act. Keep fighting the good fight in 2011! We are winning! And please click here to donate to our efforts to get animals out of laboratories!

credit: PETATell D.A. To Investigate "Angel's Gate Animal Hospice" In New York

Our friends at PETA have uncovered shocking evidence of apparent cruelty at "Angel's Gate Animal Hospice" in Delhi, New York, where well-meaning but unknowing guardians pay for their companion animals to "live out their days in peace, dignity and love."

According to the Times Union newspaper in Albany, New York, "...PETA claims its investigator, who posed as a volunteer at the shelter for three weeks late last year, found that the rehabilitation center failed to properly treat animals in deteriorating health, intentionally denied the creatures water and shelter and left carcasses of dead pets out among living for days." Angel's Gate still houses 185 cats, 103 dogs, 10 birds and three horses. Click here to read more and to send an e-mail to the District Attorney.
