IDA team responds to Brazil disasterBrazil Disaster Relief Update

Six weeks have passed since the cataclysmic flooding and mudslides in Brazil. In the warehouse-like emergency shelter in Teresopolis, in Rio de Janeiro, the vast majority of animals - among hundreds - were companion animals, not strays as was the case after Chile's earthquake a year ago. Formerly loved and cared for, those in the shelter are now haunted by loss, living alone in a world they used to share with human families. Thanks to your donations, IDA has been able to contribute to the team of responders trying their best to care for these animals. Click here to read about the animals you helped rescue.

Rescued dogs from Dominican RepublicIDA Staffer Rescues Two Dominican Republic "Beach Dogs"

IDA's Matt Rossell recently returned from a "vacation" to the Dominican Republic. He reports: "Meet Chicho and Chinola (Dominican for passion fruit). When most people go on vacation, they bring back souvenirs to remember the trip. For my family, we bring back street dogs, or in this case beach dogs." Grab your hankies and click here to read the rest of this heartwarming, happy ending story.

Albert EinsteinGreat Minds Think Alike - Happy Birthday (March 14) Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein was one of history's most influential physicists, famous for his theories of relativity. He published more than 450 scientific and nonscientific works and won a Nobel Prize in 1922. As a citizen of four countries (Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the U.S.) Einstein was a political commentator, pacifist, and civil rights advocate. He was named Time magazine's "Person of the Century" in 1999. Though not a vegetarian, Einstein felt that becoming one was necessary for humans to graduate to the next step of evolution: "Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet." - Albert Einstein

Hope Animal Sanctuary Spay Neuter DaySpay/Neuter Day At IDA's Hope Animal Sanctuary

Thanks to Mississippi State University's (MSU) student surgery team, Hope Animal Sanctuary was able to spay/neuter 4 cats and 27 dogs this week. Some had been abandoned, rescued, and brought to Hope Animal Sanctuary (HAS). IDA has done what we came to Mississippi to do – set up an oasis of hope for animals in one of the poorest states in the country.

A huge thanks to MSU's Dr. Busby and his team. Without their help we wouldn't be able to help all the animals we rescue and care for. Please click here to read more and see photos from our latest Spay/Neuter Day. And don't forget the "double your donation" offer is still good – a very generous IDA supporter will match any donation you make through this link.
