Dear Anne,

When I first met Boomer, his hair was so matted and tangled it was ripping his skin.

This was the reality of Boomer’s life of neglect in a Mississippi puppy mill. When we found him locked in a tiny garage with dozens of other dogs, I could hardly believe my eyes. His fur was such a terrible mess that when HSUS rescuers shaved it off, it came away like a tiny coat.

Watch our heartwarming video to see Boomer’s happy ending -- then become a Humane Hero with your monthly donation to our 2011 Animal Survivors Fund.

Boomer’s a lucky survivor -- now his coat is white and fluffy, and he sleeps in a warm bed in a safe place. To help save thousands of animals just like him in the new year, we’re doing something BIG: We’re hoping to raise $1.2 million online by December 31 for our 2011 Animal Survivors Fund.

It’s ambitious -- but so are our plans for saving animals next year. We'll not only continue to help bust puppy mills, but we'll also take on the other individuals and industries that profit from animal suffering -- from people who club baby seals to death, to those who confine animals in factory farms, to those who cruelly pit dog against dog in dogfighting rings.

Your gift of just $20.11 a month for 2011 -- just 67 cents a day --  can help thousands of animals like Boomer not just survive, but thrive in the new year. Click here to watch Boomer's video and make your tax-deductible donation today. Thank you for everything you do for animals.
