Doll Stanley with Winona dogIDA's Project Hope Sanctuary Partners With Mississippi Orgs To Rescue Dogs

Here's what IDA's Doll Stanley encountered at an underfunded and understaffed Winona, Mississippi shelter: "I spotted a dead pup in a run with 4 adults. Most of the pup's head was missing. Within minutes we had found 4 dead pups. One pup’s head had been completely bitten off and one probably suffocated as he was shoved beneath the pen frame. I then located the 4th pup - he had either crawled, or been pushed out the back side of the run. His back left leg was missing."

Doll continued: "It’s difficult to express the disgust, dismay, and sorrow of discovering suffering and dead animals in a city-run animal facility. These animals were in need of help. They either strayed from their homes, or were surrendered or abandoned. What in the world could possibly justify their fate? Who is to blame?" Most important, what would become of the dogs at this "shelter"? Click here to find out.
