| GoDaddy.com CEO Brags About Killing Wild Elephant Bob Parsons, CEO of the internet domain hosting company Go Daddy, posted a video blog that shows him shooting and killing an elephant in Zimbabwe. This is not the first time he has publicly bragged about hunting elephants and other animals. Parsons says he's not ashamed of his reprehensible action, claiming to be helping villagers whose crops were trampled. But his lame excuse doesn't hold water. Parsons is just another trophy hunter looking to justify murdering an innocent animal. Events on and around April 22 all over the world will honor the Earth and explore how to reduce our impact on the environment. One of the best ways to reduce our carbon footprint is by eating a plant-based diet. The United Nations, the EPA, environmental organizations, and countless scientific studies all warn of the detrimental environmental impact of animal agribusiness. Meat and other animal by-products are responsible for 51% of the total human-caused greenhouse gas emissions worldwide, according to a study by two prominent World Bank environmental advisors. Learn more about the environmental impact of animal agriculture here, and see how you can take action for animals and the Earth. | | What Are You Doing For World Week For Animals In Laboratories? Born near Yuma, Arizona, the charismatic leader did not finish the eighth grade and was largely self-taught. He followed the examples of Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. for inspiration on non-violent social change. He was passionate about animal rights and vegetarianism. As he wrote in a letter to Action for Animals: "I became a vegetarian after realizing that animals feel afraid, cold, hungry and unhappy like we do ... It was my dog, Boycott, who led me to question the right of humans to eat other sentient beings." IDA recognized this great leader's contribution to animal rights by awarding Cesar Chavez our Lifetime Achievement Award in 1992. In his acceptance speech, Chavez said: "We need, in a special way, to work twice as hard to help people understand that the animals are fellow creatures, that we must protect them and love them as we love ourselves ... We know we cannot be kind to animals until we stop exploiting them - exploiting animals in the name of science, exploiting animals in the name of sport, exploiting animals in the name of fashion, and yes, exploiting animals in the name of food." | | Guardian Award Winner Brenda Pane Of Castro Valley, California IDA is proud to present our Guardian Award to Brenda Pane of Castro Valley, California.
