Dear Anne, What a year it’s been at IDA’s Hope Animal Sanctuary! Our partnership with Mississippi State University’s (MSU) Mobile Spay and Neuter Team resulted in hundreds of animals being altered, given inoculations, wormed, heartworm tested, and then lovingly cared for at Hope Animal Sanctuary until we could find them homes. Our efforts resulted in over 1,000 adoptions in 2010. We reached out and formed alliances with regional shelters that had no spay/neuter program, maximizing our impact. Of course, as always, this past year also involved some dramatic rescues of horses, calves, donkeys, and pot-bellied pigs. Because of your support, we take great comfort in knowing we are never alone. Please click here to make a donation today to IDA’s Hope Animal Sanctuary. What is our challenge in 2011? - The challenge this year is not to just sustain our momentum, but to accelerate our efforts. We must raise at least $30,000 to obtain a transport vehicle of our own – we currently rent vehicles each time we deliver animals to our adoption partners.
- A surgery clinic to enhance what MSU’s mobile unit accomplishes at our sanctuary, with some infrastructure improvements, will cost at least $25,000.
- In Mississippi where our Hope Animal Sanctuary is based, animals commonly encounter endemic infections such as heartworm in dogs and various others in horses, pigs and cows. We treat all treatable infections, so animals can be adopted into loving homes. But the costs of treatment can overwhelm us.
- We must improve our animal care facilities. We can take up to 80 animals during each transport to our adoption partners, but we must have the facilities to care for that many on site.
Can you please help today? Even a $10 donation will go a long way! I recognize that in these economic times, donations are more difficult than ever. Due to depressed finances, we have had to reduce our Hope Animal Sanctuary staff to just three. We continue to aid the shelters we partner with, but the shelters depend on us to relieve their crowding. We have witnessed some horrible crimes against animals. We have helped bring the guilty to justice. We truly need your help. The animals at Hope Animal Sanctuary need your help. All that IDA has accomplished has been made possible thanks to your compassion and generosity. Not just at Hope Animal Sanctuary but all over the world – from our other sanctuaries in Africa and India to our campaigns in the United States to help elephants in zoos and circuses, primates and other animals in cruel laboratories, wild horses on their home ranges being rounded up by monster helicopters, and so much more. Won't you please be as generous as you possibly can today? Right now IDA’s Hope Animal Sanctuary and the animals need your support more than ever. With my deepest and most sincere appreciation,
Doll Stanley Director, In Defense of Animals’ Hope Animal Sanctuary |
