Give your dog an extra belly rub from us! | | Rescues, Spays And Neuters Highlight 2010 At IDA's Hope Animal Sanctuary Sustaining our Hope Animal Sanctuary in Mississippi through the current recession has been quite a challenge! Our partnership with Mississippi State University’s Mobile Spay & Neuter Team resulted in hundreds of animals spayed or neutered, given inoculations, wormed, heartworm tested, and cared for at Hope Animal Sanctuary, in foster homes, and shelters we partnered with. Our efforts resulted in about 1,000 adoptions in 2010. We reached out to regional shelters that had no spay/neuter program. By sharing our resources, animals who would have been euthanized are instead with loving guardians. In coming weeks, we'll be sharing with you many more stories about animals who have been saved at Hope Animal Sanctuary, thanks entirely to your support. We hope these stories will inspire you to remain on board! In the meantime, please visit the Hope Animal Sanctuary blog to read about some of our recent rescues, and feel free to join the conversation by posting your thoughts. | | Thrive On A Vegan Diet With The Vegan Mastery Program Did you make a New Year’s resolution to eat healthier or go vegetarian or vegan? The vast majority of these incidents are unnecessary. The most recent was in Des Moines, Washington. On November 7, police shot and killed a dog named Rosie who got loose from her yard. Judging from news coverage on the case and reports from eyewitnesses, this killing appears unnecessary. City officials owe the community an investigation and an explanation for the police officers' actions. You responded, sending thousands of letters. In December, President Obama signed H.R. 5566, outlawing the creation and distribution of crush videos. This was a surprisingly rapid response to April's Supreme Court decision in United States v. Stevens which struck down an earlier federal law for being overbroad. The Supreme Court's fear was that the prior law would have also applied to hunting and fishing videos. The new law ties the offense to obscenity, which is not protected by the First Amendment. Congratulations to our active IDA members who helped make this happen! Your letters and phone calls work! | | | | | This message was sent to sweetygirl2002@uol.com.br | | | | In Defense of Animals, located in San Rafael, Calif., is an international animal protection organization with more than 100,000 members and supporters dedicated to ending the abuse and exploitation of animals by protecting their rights and welfare.
