The CoveReturn To "The Cove" - Taiji, Japan Dolphin Update

IDA’s Kim Flaherty just returned from a nightmarish visit to Taiji, Japan, where she witnessed dolphin slaughters just like those depicted in the Oscar-winning film The Cove:

“Standing atop a promontory in Taiji, Japan, I’m enduring an agonizing wait to see if today will bring another merciless slaughter of dolphins. I’ve been in Taiji for four days now and have witnessed over 60 dolphins lose their lives at the hands of the Taiji fishermen. On November 29, a large pod of more than 50 spotted dolphins were killed, while a pod of 10 Risso’s dolphins were destroyed the following day.”

BLM photoHelp Utah's Vanishing Wild Horses

Please speak up for wild horses living in southern Utah.

Every ten years or so, BLM districts revise their local Resource Management Plans (RMPs), which set management strategies for public lands. This is when the agency allocates resources for privately-held farm animals, wild horses, burros, and wildlife, and sets “appropriate” management levels for wild horses and burros.

Utah’s public lands have historically been managed to maximize grazing for private interests. More than three million acres of designated wild horse habitat have been “zeroed out" over the past four decades, with just 2.1 million acres remaining.

It’s time to protect Utah’s wild horses. The deadline for comments is December 27, 2010, so please click here to send a quick e-mail today.

Earlier this year, we asked you to contact California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, urging him to sign a bill requiring honest labeling of fur garments. The Governor vetoed that widely supported bill, but now the U.S. Congress has stepped in and resolved the issue - The Truth in Fur Labeling Act, signed by President Obama last week, will require all items containing real animal fur to be labeled. Now consumers will finally be able to make informed decisions and avoid real fur!

Let's keep up that momentum by supporting activists in Israel who are close to completely banning the fur trade in their country. Click here to send an e-mail to the two members of Israel's Knesset (parliament) who can make that ban a reality!

Donate your car to IDA!Donate Your Car Or Any Other Vehicle To IDA - We Do The Work, You Get The Tax Deduction

Your beloved car just isn’t the same anymore. It stalls, leaks, backfires, clunks, or may have even seized up. Yet you can’t let go. But your car has done everything it’s been asked and now there is something beautiful you can do for it as a sweet sendoff. Donate it to your favorite organization, IDA! Donating your old vehicle will directly save animals’ lives and ensure that the vital work of IDA continues.

Proceeds from your used car, boat, RV, van, truck, or motorcycle benefit animals around the world. Your donated vehicle, a tax-deductible contribution, does not need to be registered or even in running condition. We will arrange to have the vehicle picked up or towed from almost anywhere.
