Thanksgiving is the perfect opportunity to showcase how far veganism has come. Living a compassionate lifestyle doesn’t mean sacrificing beloved traditional holiday favorites. Fur Free Fridays NordstromThe Day After Thanksgiving - What Are Your Plans For Fur Free Friday?

From Dublin to Dusseldorf, Johannesburg, Mar Del Plata, and Tel Aviv, and across the U.S. in cities like Anchorage, Atlanta, Chicago, Seattle, Rochester and Beverly Hills, thousands of animal lovers are preparing to raise their voices for fur-bearing animals on November 26. Visit IDA's Fur Free Friday web site to see how you can participate in this grassroots movement and work to end the horrible fur trade. Check if there's an event in your area, or organize one yourself!

Together we are creating positive momentum: last week, an activist in Ireland reported, “Fingal County Council passed our Motion to Ban the Import and Sale of Real Fur in their jurisdiction. The motion ... passed unanimously, gaining cross-party support. Many councillors also spoke highly of our efforts, and showed a lot of support for the issue. They then wrote a letter to the government, on our behalf, asking for a review of the current legislation.”

In Israel, activists are working to convince a few legislator hold-outs to stop blocking anti-fur legislation which would make Israel the first fur-free nation in the world. This effort has some strong star-power behind it, with Pamala Anderson recently visiting Israel to promote the ban, joining the efforts of Brigitte Bardot, Paul McCartney, Chrissie Hynde, Alicia Silverstone, Leona Lewis and the Dalai Lama, who all support the ban.

Please send a letter today showing your support of this bill. Send your letter to Minister Yakov Margi: yakovm@dat.gov.il, achifa@rabbinate.gov.il, ymargi@knesset.gov.il, Fax: +972 2- 5311308. Please also copy: MK Menachem Ben Eliezer Mozes: mmozes@knesset.gov.il, MK Haim Amsalem: eamsalem@knesset.gov.il.

Our efforts to end the fur trade cannot be limited to one day each year. Please join IDA's effort to convince Nordstrom to go fur-free. Contact IDA's Fur Campaign Director Matt Rossell.

Saylor Creek, Idaho wild horsesUrge Release Of The Saylor Creek Wild Horses Back To Their Range

In August, the BLM rounded up the entire herd of 198 wild horses living in the Saylor Creek Herd Management Area in southern Idaho, after a wildfire burned a portion of their home range. Now the agency is taking public comments on a release plan. They propose returning fewer than 40 percent of the horses to the range. Meanwhile, grazing of privately-held animals will be allowed to continue at current levels, with 16 times more forage allocated to farmed animals than wild horses.

Please click here by November 22 to tell the BLM to release all the Saylor Creek horses back to the range.
