Right now, dogs like Outlaw are facing a long, bitter season with no shelter from the stinging cold and the wet of winder. You can help by sponsoring a PETA doghouse today. -- Sponsor a Doghouse! Dear Anne,

Outlaw was discovered with only a small wooden barrel for shelter. The barrel was tilted, so he got soaked whenever it rained. He was tied up for life—day and night—on a worn-down circle of dirt next to a dangerous pile of wobbly tires in both bone-chilling winter temperatures and broiling summer heat.

PETA fieldworkers cleaned the waste from his dirt patch and set him up with a sturdy, weatherproof doghouse just before a winter storm set in. For the first time in Outlaw's life, he now has an "inside" to go to—a place where he can get out of the weather and keep himself warm and dry.

PETA built that house for Outlaw with the funds provided by our "Angels for Animals" doghouse sponsors. "Angels for Animals" are dedicated PETA supporters like you who help dogs survive cold winters and scorching summers by giving them a sturdy doghouse. Your gift today will provide shelter to a neglected dog who is chained or penned outside.

PETA helps hundreds of neglected individuals every winter. Most of these dogs find themselves with little more than a freezing patch of dirt to live on and no way to escape the harsh conditions. Click here to see a short video about the lifesaving difference that your sponsorship can make for animals.

When we can't convince a guardian to bring his or her dog inside, a well-built doghouse and a little attention from a PETA fieldworker make the lives of these animals a little less hellish! We fill our doghouses with straw bedding, and the dogs go inside immediately to curl up. Their tails thump, life comes into them, and their world doesn't seem quite so hopeless anymore. We also give them tangle-free lightweight lines to replace the heavy chains that weigh them down, and we provide them with toys, something to chew on, a nutritious meal to help winter-proof them that day, clean water (often we break the ice on their water or provide a bucket or bowl), and a few minutes of the love and attention that mean the world to these social souls.

With your sponsorship of $265, PETA will provide a sturdy, straw-filled doghouse to one neglected dog. Your gift—no matter the size—will make a huge difference to a neglected outside dog.

Last year, thanks to generous "Angels for Animals" sponsors, PETA provided more than 300 neglected dogs with sturdy doghouses. These are dogs people can legally keep in conditions that we find appalling. With many more dogs in urgent need—and with temperatures dropping fast—we want to top that number this year, and I hope that we can count on your support.

Thank you for helping a neglected dog this winter in such a significant way.

Kind regards,

Ingrid E. Newkirk
President

P.S. Your simple act of kindness today can provide one of these animals with years of shelter from the elements. Please consider becoming an "Angels for Animals" sponsor right now.
