GreaterGood Network Take Action! Environment Edition

Dear Supporter,

Although progress in halting the spill in the Gulf of Mexico has been slow, dedicated volunteers and relief workers have been moving as quickly as possible to save the lives of thousands of animals.

The creatures facing the biggest challenge to their survival are the chicks and baby sea turtles that need to be hand cleaned and sometimes hand fed by rescue workers.

Read our featured petition to learn more about their plight; then, add your name to our other green-themed campaigns and help secure a better future for our fragile planet.

Sincerely,
GreaterGood Take Action! Team

BP: Stop Burning Endangered Sea Turtles

BP: Stop Burning Endangered Sea Turtles

As part of BP's efforts to quell the effects of the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, they've been conducting "controlled burns." This process involves corralling a section of the oil-covered water and setting it on fire. While this can be successful in removing the oil, the unintended consequences are vast, especially in a species-rich environment like the Gulf.

The animal most threatened by these actions is the Kemp's Ridley sea turtle. This rare breed of turtle is protected by the Endangered Species Act, but unfortunately their survival is put at greater risk by the oil spill. Now, they face the potential of being burned alive if caught in the midst of one of these cleanups.

Tell BP that they have a responsibility to protect these rare turtles!
