	"The ASPCA works in partnership with local groups to rescue animals like these from deplorable conditions," said Matt Bershadker, Senior Vice President of Anti-Cruelty for the ASPCA. The ASPCA Field Investigations and Response Team is a group of specially trained staff members that assists animal victims of disasters, both natural and man-made, throughout the country. These dedicated employees can be called on at any time to help coordinate raids and rescues and safely remove animals from crime scenes. The team works with regional emergency responders to save animals from life-threatening situations. On February 4, the ASPCA seized 96 animals from a notorious puppy mill in Mississippi. The dogs were discovered living in feces-encrusted pens and filth. Many were underweight and appeared to have skin problems. Several dead adult dogs and puppies were also discovered. On February 7, all 96 of the survivors were placed with the local and out-of-state animal welfare agencies that assisted in the raid. With the help of Pet Airways, which offered to fly the dogs at a 30% discount, 34 of the rescued dogs came to the ASPCA to receive medical care and find loving, forever homes. The generosity of members like you makes this crucial, lifesaving work possible. While we rescued nearly 100 dogs in Mississippi, many more are still suffering at the hands of other puppy millers.
